Journalism Club

OLV's journalism club is open to students in grades 4 through 8.  At bi-monthly meetings, the students learn to interview, research and write newspaper articles and features to be published in the Angel Student Press.  The Angel Student Press is a school newspaper distributed approximately four times a year to the OLV community.

National Junior Honor Society

OLV is proud to sponsor a chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.   Students in grade 6 who have maintained an average of at least 88 are invited to apply for admission to the  National Junior Honor Society.  Of those students, those with exceptional community and school service are accepted by the OLV faculty selection committee for admission to the Honor Society while in the seventh and eighth grades at OLV.  Members of the Honor Society must maintain an acceptable grade point average and perform a minimum of community service.  Some activities which the National Junior Honor Society students sponsor include a blood drive and bread sale.

Book Club

The OLV Book Club meets on a monthly basis to discuss a pre-selected book with the aid of a faculty advisor.  Students in grades 4 and 5 are eligible to participate.

Chorus

Students in grades 4 through 8 are eligible to participate in OLV's coeducational chorus.  The chorus meets weekly after school during certain periods of the school year in preparation for concerts performed for the school community.

Student Council

The OLV Student Council represents all grade levels in the OLV community with the aid of a faculty advisor.  Students in grades 5 through 8 represent classes from Kindergarten through eighth grade.  Student Council members sponsor various activities throughout the school year including socials, dances, dress down days and the annual "adopt a family" outreach at Christmas.

Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination (DI) is an exciting new program being offered this year at OLV.   Destination Imagination is an international program that builds student creativity and problem solving abilities in fun and meaningful ways.  Each DI group is comprised of a select team of 5-7 students.  Using their criticial thinking skills and personal talents, the team works together to solve a team challenge over an 12 -16 week period.  Every challenge is designed with an educational focus and is solvable in many ways and on many levels.  Each Destination Imagination team will share their team challenge results in a national tournament.   For more information on the national organization, check out www.idodi.org

Nature's Classroom

Every year, the 6th grade class heads to Nature's Classroom for a week long, once of a lifetime experience!   Check out  www.NaturesClassroom.org for more information on this unique class trip!
