As School Guidance Counselor, I hope to be available to any student who may need assistance in any aspect of his/her life including school work, friendships, sibling rivalry, problems at home and other challenging situations. Being in the classroom each week helps me to know the students better and for them to know me.
This helps to make counseling sessions more comfortable and productive.

Values Home Page

This page contains information for values students and their parents.
The students (Grades 1-8) have a Values class once a week during a regular class time period.
Once a month, I visit Kindergarden to do a short lesson in values.
Lessons range from dealing with feelings, staying safe, discovering self, learning to be tolerant of others, managing peer pressure, respect and responsibility, being healthy, internet safety and courtesy, and making good decisions.
Some lessons are born from incidents that happen at school, at home, or in the world.

Values can be defined as "how you choose to live your life". Everything we do or don't do is about choice.
Young children quickly learn right from wrong. From that point, we encourage children to choose right over wrong. This is a life long process that needs constant attention and reinforcement. If children see adults making responsible decisions, that example alone can teach more than words.
I use a variety of literature, including the Bible, in my Values lessons.

ANTI-TOBACCO POSTER CONTEST
Students in grades 1-6 have been given a registration form to enter an Anti-Tobacco Contest. The form has all the information on the front and the poster is to be drawn on the back of the form. All posters are due back to me by February 1st. The winners will receive a $50.00 gift certificate and their poster picture will be used in the 2013 calendar. Good luck to all students who participate!

Announcements
At the beginning of the school year, Value lessons will contain topics related to safety; i.e. school safety, home safety, personal safety, internet safety. School and home rules will be discussed as well as responsibility to self and others. Discussions are an important part of values class. As the year progresses, topics will include bullying, drug education, safety belts, good decision making, and other life skills.

We have a Lost and Found Box in the cafeteria. Many items accumulate each day and can be found in the box at the entrance to the cafeteria. Any clothing items that are not claimed in a reasonable amount of time, are put in the uniform closet or in the Good Will box. Please remember to mark your child's clothing and we can return the lost item to him/her.Thank you.
