All students entering 7th and 8th grade will be recieiving summer math packets on the last day of school.  Completion of the packets is mandatory.  Answer keys are provided, however students must show their work to recieve credit.  Students entering Grade 7 will be given both the grade 6 and 7 summer math packet.  Students only need to complete ONE complete packet.  The 7th grade packet is included for those students who want to take on a challenge.  Students should not mix and match pages from the packets.
SUMMER READING!!!

A few housekeeping notes...

*Wednesdsay Work Sessions are moving to Tuesdays beginning 3/23!: Weekly work sessions will be available to all 7th and 8th grade students.  Students may stay until 4 pm on Tuesday afternoons to catch up on missed work, make up assignments that weren't satisfactorilly completed, retake math tests, or work on long term projects.  It is not a time to work on nightly homework assignments.  Students who have work to make up will bring home an "invitation" to the work session on Monday.  Please sign and return the slip  on Tuesday even if your child is unable to attend.  Students who wish to stay but did not receive an invitation are welcome, provided they bring in  a signed note stating the time at which they will be picked up.

*Absences are unavoidable.  Missed work will be compiled for your child by the end of the day when he or she is absent.  For students who do not have siblings in the school and have not made arrangements with classmates to bring their work home, the work is available for parents to pick up.

*As stated in the Student Handbook, students have one day per day of absence following their return to complete missed assignments.  For example, if a student is absent for three days, he has three days folling his return to make up missed work.  After the allotted time, assignments are considered late.

Student Council

*A new student council page has been added to the OLV student activities page.  Check back often for information regarding meetings, committees, and scheduled events

A FEW NOTES ABOUT EXTRA HELP FOR MATH

Extra help is offered twice weekly during the school day.  If more time is needed, students may request help before school on Tuesdays from 7:45-8:15.  Early morning help must be arranged in advance.  Students are expected to arrive at extra help with specific questions from homework assignments or classwork.
