Grade 7 News

This page contains information for grade 7 students and parents. Please check back frequently for assignments, news, and other information.

Grade 6 Social Studies- We will study ancient civilizations.  These include Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Asia, Greece, Rome, and early American cultures.  Grade 6 will also complete the Junior Achievement "Global Marketplace" 7 lesson curriculum.

Grade 7 Social Studies- We will study early American history (from Colonial America through the Civil War).  We will work closely with Dr. Willand, Mrs. O'Donnell, and the 8th grade class as they study Reconstruction to modern America.

Grades 7 & 8 Language Arts- We will master the sentence (and its parts of speech), the paragraph, and the five paragraph essay.  We will diagram sentences and write and speak in a mature way.  When studying vocabulary, we will learn the spelling, the part of speech, and the definition of each word.

Grades 7 & 8 Literature- We will study all the major genres.  These include fiction, poetry, and drama.  We are starting with non-fiction in September as we prepare for our trip to Washington DC.  We will analyze literature and learn literary terms.  We will write creatively and do a book report each month.  We will be ready for High School.

Drumming- We will prepare for an awesome show in June.

Summer Reading Grades 7 and 8

Announcements

DEAR PARENTS AND FUTURE SEVENTH GRADERS,

I can't wait for my new 7th grade class! Below is a list of supplies that you will need:

1. One 2" Language Arts binder. See if you can recycle one. Divide it into three sections:

     A.  Spelling and Vocabulary

     B. Latin

     C. Reading

You can put some looseleaf in the reading section but keep the other two sections empty.

2. One box of tissues

3. One or two containers of disinfecting wipes

4. One package of printer paper

5.  One roll of paper towel

6.  Art box (crayons, markers, colored pencils, scissors, glue) - see how much of this stuff you already have before you buy all new stuff.

7.  Pens, pencils, whiteout

8. An iPad protective case, stylus (optional), headphones/earbuds

9. One three subject notebook

The most important thing to bring is #10: a good personality, a sense of humor, and a strong work ethic. We are going to have a great year, I promise.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Nealon
