Summer Reading
In-coming 6th graders will read 3 books, each by a different author. Authors include Mary Stolz, Scott O'Dell, Elizabeth Enright, Gary Paulsen, Laurence Yep. Notes should be taken: list of characters with a description, setting, brief summary ( 1 side of a long, lined paper), 5 general lessons and a 3 sentence evaluation. Students should be ready to pass in an index card with the names of the 3 books and authors.....on first day of school. An in-class evaluation will be done during the first week back. Notes may be used.
Supply List
erasable dark blue or black pens, red correcting pens ( not gel), pencils with erasers, plastic or wooden ruler (standard and metric measurements), highlighter, loose leaf paper, 1 3-section notebook for Math, 1 1-section notebook for English, plastic green folder with two pockets for Science,, 1 4-section notebook for Religion, Reading, Social Studies, Spelling , assignment planner indicating multiple/ subject areas, plastic or cloth case for art supplies: colored pencils, crayons, Sharpie, liquid glue, glue stick, scissors
Each student should have an art shirt and book bag.
Each student should also bring in tissues and wipes for the classroom.
