SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST FOR STUDENTS ENTERING THIRD GRADE
Reading:
Students need to read at home for a grand total of 130 minutes each week from Monday to Sunday. This breaks down to about 15 minutes every day. They are to fill out a Reading Time Sheet. Parents need to verify their reading times by initialing the appropriate spaces. These sheets need to be handed in to the teacher every Monday.
Click Reading Time Sheet to print out a new sheet for this week.
Here is a catalog of the books that I have in the grade 3 library. You can use it as a resource to find the level of books and to see if I have it in the grade 3 library.
Click Grade 3 Library to view the catalog.
Reading Partnerships:
Students need to read a preset number of pages and write their thoughts and questions on sticky notes. Then they are to meet with their partner a total of 3 times during the book to discuss what has been going on. At the end of the book they are to work on a project together and present it to the class, along with a book report form that is to be filled out by each of them and handed in to the teacher.

Spelling
Spelling words are introduced on Fridays. Test and worksheets are due Thursdays.
Math:
Please visit the Progress in Math website for enrichment activities: www.progressinmath.com
Parents if you would like to create worksheets of your own to test your children then go to www.mathfactscafe.com. Good luck!
Don't forget to keep reviewing time, money, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts!!
The Classroom Economy
As the students understand the dynamics of the store, they will transform into model citizens. After they get a handle on what is expected of them, they will no longer just think about themselves. They will start thinking of others first! Whether it is their classmates or their family, they will be willing to spend their hard earned cash on items for others. Donations are ALWAYS welcomed. Anything slightly used can be donated. Donations can include: toys, bouncy balls, footballs, pens, pencils, erasers, stickers, sharpeners, puzzles, games, cards, cars, etc. Inexpensive items for students to purchase using their own money. Don't forget about the adults. Students love to buy gifts for parents and grandparents.
