Student of the Week: I will be sending home a paper with each student when it is their turn to be student of the week. They can fill out the information on the shapes, color lightly and cut out the shapes. They should be returned to school on Monday of their special week. They can also bring in pictures of themselves, family etc...They can also bring in a favorite toy, stuffed animal, collection, drawing, trophy etc.. that they would like to share(ie:show and tell - it will stay on a special shelf for the week and be returned on Friday). They are also allowed to bring in a favorite book to share with the class. It can be a book for me to read, for them to read or they may invite a special reader to come in sometime that week to read to the class. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. It will be fun to learn a little more about each other!
Behavior Light: We have a behavior light in our classroom. Each student starts out on the green light with 5 X’s toward a pick out of the treasure box. If they exhibit inappropriate behavior in the classroom, they receive a warning. If they repeat inappropriate behavior, their clip gets moved to yellow. If inappropriate behavior continues their clip is moved to red. Once on red they loose one of their X’s. Once the student is behaving appropriately their clip may be moved back to green. If the student ends the day on the green light they earn back the X they lost. The next day everyone starts on green again. If the student has lost an X and stays on green the next day, they earn an X back. At the end of the week, if the student has all 5 of their X’s they are allowed to pick a prize from the treasure box.
Bead Jar:The class also earns beads for the bead jar . When they fill the jar they will be rewarded for working well together as a class!
Take Home Folders: the students have a folder to make home/school communication easier. Please check these folders daily.
Homework: the students will be receiving home work during the week. Please have your child complete the homework and return it to school the next day. They will have a weekly spelling test that coincides with the reading lessons. I will post the spelling words on the website. Please help your child study these words. The students will also be introduced to AMAZING WORDS. These are new vocabulary words from their reading story. Feel free to go over these words with your child.
Attendance: If your child is going to be absent please call the main office. Please let me know if you would like to pick up your child’s make up work. I will send work home with a sibling whenever possible. The student will have one day for each day they were out to complete the work (ie: absent for 2 days, 2 days to finish work).
Lunch Envelopes: Lunch envelopes are sent home on Tuesday or Wednesday. Please return them on Friday for the following week. Lunch is $3 and includes milk. Milk alone is $ .50. If your child is out on Friday and they plan on buying the following week, please call Ms. Pittman to add them to the lunch count. Money can be sent in with the child when they return to school.
