Spanish classes at Our Lady of the Valley School in Grades K-3 meet once a week for 30 minutes while Grades 4-8 students meet twice a week for 45 minutes each.
The goal of the Spanish Program at Our lady of the Valley School is to make the learning of the Spanish language a meaningful experience for the children. The students are actively engaged in acquiring the language throught a variety of stimuli. For the lower grades, the classes often include singing, arts and crafts, games and storytelling. In all grades the focus in the Spanish class is on listening, speaking, reading and writing (in this order).The ability to respond to oral prompts in Spanish will become natural to the students. In addition to the language, students will be acquiring knowledge of the Spanish culture and history. The expectations, curriculum and materials in the Spanish class are age-appropriate and suportive of the curriculum at Our lady of the Valley School.
